How to Lower Volume on the X-ray Console
This article provides a step-by-step guide for qualified technicians on how to adjust the button beep volume on Summit AP (single-screen) and 2PT (two-screen) X-ray consoles. The procedure involves using a small, flat-tip screwdriver to turn a potentiometer dial on the console's internal circuit board P1 for 2PT consoles and P2 for AP consoles.

This article is for informational purposes only and is intended for use by qualified installation technicians and service personnel who are familiar with this equipment. Any adjustments or modifications made to the system are performed at your own risk.
For expert and safe service, we strongly recommend contacting Maven Imaging to have a local, qualified technician dispatched to perform this adjustment for you.
1. Critical Safety Protocol: Power Down the System
Before any attempt is made to access the console's internal components, you must completely disconnect the X-ray system from its power source.
- Locate the main wall-mounted disconnect switch or circuit breaker for the X-ray unit.
- Turn the switch to the OFF position.
- Verify that the console screen is completely black and that there is no power to the system.
Failure to disconnect the power before proceeding can result in serious injury or damage to the equipment.
2. Tools and Component Identification
- Tool Required: A small, flat-tip screwdriver (often found in electronics or eyeglass repair kits).
- Component to Adjust: A small dial on the console's internal circuit board called a potentiometer.
You must identify the correct potentiometer based on your console type:
- For AP Consoles (large single screen): The volume dial is labeled P2.
- For 2PT Consoles (two smaller screens): The volume dial is labeled P1.
3. Adjustment Procedure
Step 1: Locate the Adjustment Dial
Some console models have a small, recessed access hole on the back or side of the casing that allows for this adjustment without disassembly.
- Check for an access hole first. If one is present and aligns with the correct potentiometer (P1 or P2), you can proceed.
- If no access hole is found, the console casing must be opened. This task should only be performed by a qualified service technician.
Step 2: Adjust the Volume
- Ensure the system is powered OFF at the main wall disconnect.
- Gently insert the flat-tip screwdriver into the slot of the correct potentiometer (P1 or P2).
- To make an adjustment, turn the screwdriver a very small amount—about 1/8 of a turn. Clockwise typically increases volume, and counter-clockwise decreases it.
Step 3: Test and Repeat
Since the system must be powered down for safety during the adjustment, you must follow this cycle to test the new volume level:
- Remove the screwdriver from the console.
- Turn the system ON at the main wall disconnect.
- Wait for the console to boot up, then press a button to hear the beep volume.
- If further adjustment is needed, you must repeat Section 1: Power Down the System before making another change.
Repeat this safe on/off cycle until the desired volume is achieved.
